Buy & Buy

There are some days and some moments that will forever leave a mark on your life.  This is one of those moments - being the moment I first heard this song by Ross Ells.  It a song, a story, an emotion, a moment, a changing.  This song is so powerful.  Listen to it. read it.  It will change you if you are open to the idea of there being more to life than materialistic things.   There is so much more!!!

My preacher's name was Jack Daniel's
Told me about what heaven is like
Said, "If the road to there ain't rocky
Son, ya must not be doing it right"
I threw my pills out the upstairs window
Drove to the beach to clear my mind
I watched those waves crash to rock bottom
Felt kinda light, this life of mine

Buy and buy
We buy and buy
Ain't nobody buying time
We spend our lives
Dollars and dimes
But ain't nobody buying time

My daddy said, "Son, better take vacation
Even if your money all ran out"
Now me and daddy don't talk much no more
But, damn, I sure need him right now

You put my name up in your journal
You re-erased and tore out that page
But that's alright, baby, we'll meet in heaven
But only God knows that day

Oh, buy and buy
We buy and buy
Ain't nobody buying time
We spend our lives
Dollars and dimes
But ain't nobody buying time

I broke my pockets, I break my body
I broke some hearts along the way
I can't rewind, no, there's no vacation
No where to save me from this pain

Oh, buy and buy
We buy and buy
But ain't nobody buying time
We spend our lives
Dollars and dimes
But ain't nobody buying time

And I would cling to the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
And I would cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange 'em some day for a crown

Then...

I remember trying not to stare
the night that I first met you,
you had me mesmerized,
And three weeks weeks later,
in the front porch light,
taking 45 minutes just to kiss goodnight.
I hadnt told you then,
that I loved you then,

And now you're my whole life,
And now youre my whole world,
And I just cant believe the way I feel about you girl,
Like a river needs the sea, Stronger than its ever been,
We've come so far since that day,
And I thought I loved you then

I remember taking you back to where I first met you,
You were so surprised
There were people around, but I didnt care,
I got down on one knee right there,
and once again
I thought I loved you then,

And now you're my whole life,
And now you're my whole world,
And I just cant believe the way I feel about you girl,
Like a river needs the sea, Stronger than its ever been,
We've come so far since that day,
And I thought I loved you then

I can just see you, with a baby on the way
I can just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I cant see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before

Now your my whole life
Now your my whole world
I just cant believe the way I feel about you girl,
We'll look back someday at this moment
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

Music Monday

Anything Goes - Randy Houser

Normally this time of night you wouldn't find me here
I'd be reaching for a good night kiss instead of one more beer
I'd never take a second look at the blonde across the bar
Much less invite her over and let things go this far

But anything goes when everything's gone
You ain't around to give a damn whether I do right or wrong
So bring it on, anything goes when everything's gone
Another morning after a crazy night before

I'm searchin' for my blue jeans on a stranger's bedroom floor
Well, shouldn't I feel guilty well I don't feel a thing
I'd wake her up and say goodbye, but I can't recall her name

But anything goes when everything's gone
You ain't around to give a damn whether I do right or wrong
So bring it on, anything goes when everything's gone
If you'd lifted a single thread for me to hold on too

I'd have one good reason not to do the things I do

But anything goes when everything's gone
You ain't around to give a damn whether I do right or wrong
So bring it on, anything goes when everything's gone
Anything goes

Anything goes when everything's gone

My new favorite song for right now, anyway. There is something so poignant in the lyrics it pains my wee heart.

Whatever You Say - Martina McBride

Whatever You Say
You think I'm always makin'
Something out of nothin'you're sayin' everything's okay
You've always got an answer
Before I ask the question
Whatever you say
~*~
Now we can change the subject
Pretend I never brought it up
Same old story anyway
Later we can work it out
Right now you're talked out
Yeah, whatever you say
~*~
CHORUS
Oh I know you can hear me
But I'm not sure you're listening
I hear what you're sayin'
But there's somthing missin'
Whether I go whether I stay
Right now depends on
Whatever you say
~*~
You say yes you need me
And no you wouldn't leave me
And that should be enough to make me stay
And even though I want to
I don't hear I love you
In whatever you say
~*~
Oh whether I go whether I stay
Right now depends on
Whatever you say
Whatever you say
Whatever you say
~*~
It has been quite some time since I've had a lyric blog entry. This song came on the radio this morning and just got in my head for more reasons than I can explain. Not only is Martina the most beautiful woman in country music with the exception of Faith Hill, but she is one of the most talented gems in the industry. Her music is of the nature you walk away from listening to her feeling changed or moved, atleast I do anyway. I know country music isn't for everyone, but the reason I love it so much is the way it makes me think and moves me on a very personal and emotional level. This song is just that for me.... something that is moving and touching.

Over You ~ Chris Daughtry

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Over You
Now that it’s all said and done
I can’t believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
I fell too far, was in way too deep
Guess I let you get the best of meeee

Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, time agooo!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally gettin’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
‘Cause the day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you!!!

You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags and walked away
There was nothing I could say,
And when you slammed the front door shut
A lot of other’s opened up
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for meee

I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you

And I never saw it coming
I should have started running
I’m finally getting better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!

The day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you…

I just bought this disc and I now ask myself: "What took so long?" This disc is amazing. I was driving along, listening away and this song literally jumped out at me. I love it. Chris Daughtry has the most amazing edgy voice. I've found my 'new favorite' rocker, for now, anyway!

Between The River And Me ~ Tim McGraw

I was fifteen when my daddy died, mama worked two jobs just to get by
Seemed like a blessing when Harley came around so she took his name but I had my doubts
Didn't take long for his drinking ways to start showing up on mama's face
One violent night hiding under my bed I swore that he wouldn't see another sunset
Next day I followed him down to the riverbank
I knew one of us wouldn't walk away

I might have had a plan but he didn't know it
I might have been scared but I didn't show it
That's all between the river and me
With the current and the rocks it could have been misty
He might have been sober but I brought the whiskey
That's all between the river and me

I walked up to him and I said his name
Just so he could see the look on my face
We stood eye to eye and toe to toe
When I told him that he wasn't gonna come back home
He raised his fist to me but I didn't flinch
I said 'I ain't your son you son of a bitch'

I might have had a knife in my back pocket
I might have pulled it out before he saw it
That's all between the river and me
I might have had a gun but I didn't fire it
He might have tried to yell but I kept him quiet
That's all between the river and me

Sheriff came knocking on our front door
They said they found his body by the reservoir
Bottle in his shirt and liquor in his blood
He must have fallen in the river and he never came up

There might have been blood but they never saw it
Just a little mud on the living room carpet
That's all between the river and me
Well after what he done there ain't no wonder
I can't remember how long I held him under
That's all between the river and me

That's all between the river and me

That's all between the river and me

That's all

That's all

I've not posted music lyrics in quite some time and knew the time had come to do so again. Tim McGraw's most recent disc, Let It Go was released on Tuesday. I've listened to the disc a few times through by now. This particular song, from the first note, had me hooked. The story is sad, of course, but the storytelling is amazing and done in only the way it could be done in a country song. From the first note to the last my body is a chill.

Music Monday ~ Cheapest Motel

Cheapest Motel

The glasses were all plastic,
Little balls of no-name soap,
No cable on the TV,
The ice-machine was broke.
Well, I guess that's what you get,
For nineteen bucks an' some change.
But the cheapest motel in town,
Cost him everything.

They used the Bible for a coaster,
An' it never crossed their mind:
Maybe they should've opened it,
Instead of that high-dollar wine.
It was just their little secret,
A hideaway out West Main,
But the cheapest motel in town,
Cost him everything.

He went from home in the suburbs,
To an apartment in town.
From bein' met at the door by two little kids,
To a stray dog he'd found.
He paid the price for pleasure,
Now he can't afford the pain.
An' the cheapest motel in town,
Cost him everything.

They thought no-one would find 'em,
But it isn't hard to spot,
A brand-new black Mercedes-Benz,
In that gravel parkin' lot.
He fooled his wife till one night,
She saw something he couldn't explain,
An' the cheapest motel in town,
Cost him everything.

He went from home in the suburbs,
To an apartment in town.
From bein' met at the door by two little kids,
To a stray dog he'd found.
He paid the price for pleasure,
Now he can't afford the pain.
Yeah, the cheapest motel in town,
Cost him everything;
It cost him everything;
Cost him everything.

This is a song I liked the first time I heard it! Nothing more than that, just really like this one.
