I have been plugging away. Time is in short supply, so I'll be another couple weeks before another update. It's all about the journey, not about how fast you travel said journey. Right?

It's funny how much I've changed in regards to my stitching mentality. I have had little to no desire to pick up any other piece work that I have on the go, and trust when I say I have many to chose from, I really do.

I mentioned in a previous post that I'm going to be selling some of my finished works that I have just hanging in a closet. It is sad, very very sad, not the selling of the pieces, but the beautiful works just hanging in a closet. I took a picture of one yesterday that I'm going to have Cute Boy list on his E-Bay account to sell. I have debt to pay and this may very help get rid of some of that debt. It's a plan and we'll see if is a good one.

It took me a bit to get to another 10 hour block. I'm back though. Still making progress on this piece. Truth be told, I'm loving that I've picked my stitching back up after about a year away. I find it really gives my life balance. Balance from the running, literally the running I am doing as well as the busy pace of my life. It feels good. Very therapeutic. If I'm lucky I just may have this piece finished in time for Christmas. No pressure though. If it happens it happens. If not, oh well.

Home for the Holidays - 20 hours

This is what I've been doing when working evenings. I would have had a lot more progress to show, but I had a visit from the frogs. Damn them. I must be coming full circle because it really didn't bother me too much that I had to pull out progress. I figured this, as with everything else in my life, this is about the journey now how fast I cross the finish line on the journey.

I finally feel as though I'm back to being me to some extent. I'm stitching. I'm running. I'm eating better. I'm reading. I'm doing the things I used to do that always put a smile on my face. Now, if I could only get another 2 or 3 hours in the day to do it ALL I'd be on top of the world!

Paula Vaughan's Wildflower Rhapsody

Well, isn't that something! A stitching picture on a blog that started as a place to share my love of cross stitch. Please excuse the quality of the picture. It was taken with my cel phone. Not the best quality, but you get the idea. .

It has been ages since I've stitched and even longer since I've been able to share a picture update with you. I don't know what has sparked the desire this week. I'll take it though and go with it as long as it lasts.

It was 2 years ago this month that I started this piece. I never imagined it would take me this long to finish it. Hmph! What do I mean finish it? I'm nowhere near to finished! It's not that big a piece. I've about 11 other pieces on the go, not that they have occupied my time in anyway. I've just had no time and worse than that, no desire to stitch.

This piece is being stitched as a retirement gift for a girl here in my office. It is a retirement that is far off in years, but may not be in all actuality. The woman's health is not good AT ALL, and as it appears to me from time to time, she could be out and gone from the office as soon as tomorrow. It may sound as though I'm overreacting, but that is really how it appears to me.

Hopefully it doesn't take me another 5 months to be back with an update. May not be on this piece, but something. Let's hope.

Blowing Bubbles In The New Year

This is going to be my focus piece for 2009. Pam and I usually always start a new piece every Boxing Day, but as of late it's been New Year's Day and for 2009, not at all.

This coming year we've decided to move away from that tradition somewhat and choose something from our WIP pile, specifically a piece that has been neglected. The decision has been made that we are going to focus on Bubbles, at least that was the way it looked the last time we talked. We both have a few pieces that we've started together so there was no shortage of pieces of choice.

My plans are simple this year - stitch. When I'm stitching the goal will be to flip between the following pieces:

1. Wildlflower Rhapsody (more than half done)
2. Enchanted Fairy (1/4 finished - relatively quick piece)
3. Halloween Fairy (need supplies - so close to finished)
4. Bubbles (a very long way from the finish line)

I have a few things I would like to start and hopefully finish this year, but that is for another time and another post. I will just enjoy the craft and post the updates as they come. No pressure this year to work a certain amount of time or this ridiculous list of pieces I want to start or finish. I want to just enjoy myself and see what I can do.

So barring any catastrophic happenings in my world, I should be able to accomplish something and if I don't no big deal. I will try to return to the days of stitching while I'm working evenings and maybe be able to find some time to stitch at home, when I finally have a home again.

Enchanted Fairy - 40 hours

Isn't this special? Another update on Enchanted Fairy. The going is slow since I don't have the greatest light in the condo from hell, but I've decided I've wasted enough time with my stitching that I'm attempting to stitch even in poor light.

I've been stitching all over the place on this one lately. One night I'll stitch downwards on the left of the dress, the following night to the right. The most recent addition is the small section of the arm you see. I love that part for some reason. I am going to try in my next rotation to fill in the holes to the right. I think I will start with the bare section in the purple just below the arm and work my way down. I say that now, but wait until you see the next WIP pic, I'll probably do something completely different.

Wildflower Rhapsody - 50 hours

Imagine a blog dedicated to stitching and there is finally a picture and a picture pertaining to stitching no less.

I didn't realize I was so close to a another 5 hour block or I would have worked harder at finding some stitching time to get the opportunity to share another picture with you all.

I'm really enjoying this piece and that is somewhat of a miracle with all the colour changes. I think my love has more to do with the lack of stitching time than anything else. It's not a job right now, but an escape, an opportunity to do something just for me and something I really have to struggle to find the time.

I hope not to be so long with another update. We know the road being paved with good intentions and all that jazz. I bet it's another couple weeks anyway! How sad is that?

Scissor Fobs for Fun

I was feeling a little crafty this afternoon and this is what I made. I'm not sure how many more I will make, but so far I've had some fun.

This one is made of pink beads spaced with silver metallic-like shimmery beads. I really love the soft look this has, and the heart is the perfect touch.

Here is my second attempt and a fob. This one uses a turquoise stone spaced with chrome coloured beads. I love this more subdued look and still the adorable little heart dangly.


I never really consider myself crafty, but this has really got me thinking now. What to do next...

Angels Among Us

This is my first Lizzie Kate that I've stitched in what seems like forever. I'd forgotten how fun it can be to do smaller pieces. Hmmmmm

I really hope my special friend enjoys her little gift. Now to figure out how I'm going to finish it. I'm thinking a little door hanger.
